Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) achieves a significant milestone by securing the Vice Presidency position for the MENA region in the Steering Committee of the World Association of Investment Promotion Agencies (WAIPA) for the tenure of 2023–2025. Mr. Mohamed Mulla Yaqoub, Assistant Director General for Business Development Affairs at KDIPA, will spearhead this role, having previously served as the executive director for the MENA region in the WAIPA Steering Committee from 2021 to 2023.
In this elevated role, KDIPA, as Vice President of the WAIPA Steering Committee, is dedicated to continuing its support for WAIPA’s governance system and ongoing initiatives. The primary focus is on fostering cooperation and understanding among Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs) globally, working towards the common goals set by WAIPA.
The elections transpired during WAIPA’s General Assembly on December 11th, 2023, held as part of the 27th World Investment Conference (WIC) in New Delhi, India. KDIPA's delegation, led by Mr. Mohamed Yousef Mulla Yaqoub, was accompanied by Sheikha Fatma AlSabah, Director of Public Relations & Media, and Mr. Ali Ghareeb, Investors Targeting Section at the Investment Promotion Department.
Established in 1995 in Geneva, Switzerland, WAIPA is a global non-profit organization that serves as a reference point for national and sub-national Investment Promotion Agencies (IPAs). WAIPA facilitates cooperation, experience sharing, data exchange, and talent development among its member agencies. The overarching goal is to support their efforts in attracting quality Foreign Direct Investment (FDI), thereby driving sustainable growth and fostering prosperity.
KDIPA's election to the Vice Presidency underscores its commitment to enhancing international collaboration and furthering the objectives of WAIPA, reinforcing Kuwait's position in the global investment landscape.
